COURSE OVERVIEW

The North Carolina Concealed Carry Certification Course is designed to satisfy the training requirements for individuals applying for a North Carolina Concealed Handgun Permit. This comprehensive certification combines classroom instruction with a live-fire qualification to ensure students understand the legal responsibilities, safety principles, and practical skills associated with carrying a concealed handgun.

 

COURSE ELEMENTS & LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon successful completion of this certification, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate safe firearm handling and storage practices.

  • Apply the fundamental principles of handgun marksmanship.

  • Understand North Carolina concealed carry laws and legal responsibilities.

  • Recognize when the lawful use of force and deadly force may be justified.

  • Understand reciprocity agreements and traveling with a concealed firearm.

  • Develop effective situational awareness and threat recognition skills.

  • Utilize conflict avoidance and de-escalation techniques whenever possible.

  • Understand the legal, civil, and emotional consequences of using deadly force.

  • Select appropriate concealed carry equipment, including holsters, belts, and everyday carry considerations.

  • Demonstrate proper loading, unloading, malfunction clearing, and administrative firearm handling.

  • Improve defensive shooting fundamentals through live-fire exercises.

  • Understand defensive mindset, reaction time, and decision-making under stress.

  • Learn best practices for interacting with law enforcement while carrying a concealed firearm.

  • Develop a personal protection plan that emphasizes avoidance, preparedness, and responsible decision-making.

  • Build confidence through instructor-led coaching and practical range exercises.

  • Successfully complete the training requirements necessary for concealed carry certification in accordance with applicable state laws.

PREREQUISITES 

Individuals must be 18 or older and able to pass a criminal background check. No prior experience is required.
